Athletics Injuries

Each athletic discipline brings different types of injury risk. For instance, hamstring injuries are common with sprinting and shoulder injuries are more likely with throwing, Javelin and shot put. The jumping events may lead to overuse injuries such as 'Jumper's Knee' or patella tendonitis, heel pad bruising, Achilles tendinitis and stress fractures. Unsuitable footwear, poor leg alignment and poor posture, often resulting in overuse injuries like back pain and shin splints.

You can lower the risk of injury prevention by making sure you have adequate strength and good technique for plyometric training. Use appropriate warming up exercises, stretching and strengthening the different leg muscles and improving the flexibility of ankle and knee joints, wearing suitable footwear and maintaining optimal foot position all help.
